My PC has a broken Secondary IDE. I need to connect the CD and hard drive to the Primary IDE. Currently, I have the HDD as master and Cd slave. I have set the BIOS to boot from CD but it won't. This should be doable, right?
YES it should putter... but is the secondary IDE port really busted, or is the CD busted?
does the BIOS recognize the CD rom? is the CD rom correctly jumpered as SLAVE and the HD as MASTER? have you tried another CD ROM on the secondary or primary IDE lines?
The Sec IDE has a badly twisted pin that I can not straighten. I have connected only the HD (master) and the system boots fine, it also boot fine from the CD (master). I just made the HD slave and CD master and it seems to boot fine. Perhaps it was bad power connector (I changed the one I was using), or maybe it was just posting it here. Either way, thanks.
