I have CM6.3 and 2 ISDN PRIs in a trunk group. One circuit in that group works fine. When you dial an 800 number that hits the second trunk group you hear dead air. I called the carrier and they said they said its fine. Both circuit use the same signal group. When I list trace the VDN I call in on I can see it hit the circuit in question. We have an announcement that says to press one for the next available agent which will queue the call. This is to block robo dialers. I can see in the trace the annoucement show up but I hear on the call dead air. I try pressing 1 anyway to see if I get through but that doesn't work either. So it isn't just voice that isn't making it through. I've moved this T1 off the TN464 in my G650 to a DS1 board in my G450 and I get the same results. I test the board and get a fail 144 code 1.

Is this a carrier problem or my switch problem? I don't know what elst to check.

#144 is a slip error detection.

can you for the sake of it create a new sig group (just to totally separate all variables) assign the trunk g to that sig g.

Then start having a look at a status trunk / status sig , does that show that all is active ??

If you say you have changed the ds1 resource from a port network to a h248 gateway and you still get the same result i would say that this is carrier related , when you ran the test did you do test ds1-facility xxxx ??

Force a call out over the trunks in question with ars (have a status station , status trunkx/x(narrow it down to the individual trunk channel) and list trace tac running at the same time , obviously you will need 3 sessions open for this in sat , from there you can gather info from the status screens / list trace and post here repeat for incomming call , this is really just to qualify what is going on , so all screens from the status of the station and trunk.

Are both these trunks from the same carrier thus need the sig and ds1 to be identical set up ??

worth thinking about all that try the tests post the results ...... but unless it is configuration on the ds1/sig that`s out of the ordinary i would say faulty trunk.

You can also run mst trace as the isdn trace is quite easy to read..... when you do the list trace station / tac append a /m to the command so list trace tac xxx/m ...this will log the findings to mst and it can then be deciphered from the SMI web interface , there is a really useful guide on the avaya support site if you are unsure on this process , but again post the mst here and i will try to help.Prior to running the mst you will need to change mst in cm and turn on the isdn settings but all that is in the guide .... dont worry about enabling mst at the command line in cm as the /m does this for your call ... but prior to running the trace do a status mst and check there is nothing in the buffer if there is clear mst and status mst again to check it has indeed cleared.

You can also run this command

test isdnpri-testcall
test isdnpri-testcall group#/member# [minutes num-minutes] [schedule]
Use test isdnpri-testcall to start an outgoing ISDN-PRI test call.
Only one ISDN trunk in each port network can be tested at one time. The maximum number of
asynchronous outgoing test calls that can be run simultaneously depends on the number of
Maintenance/Test circuit packs in the system.

Worth doing as again this will provide out put with responses that can be looked at.

i had a similar issue when I added my second PRI. It turned out being a clocking issue

Thanks guys for the tips. After 10 hours of testing and getting Avaya involved the carrier dispatched the LEC who came out and "fixed" the circuits. Now the circuits are in service and you can call out on them and receive calls on them, however, when our annoucnement plays "press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish" the circuits are not recognizing the DTMF. We have 2 other LD carriers and when you call 800 numbers on them the options will route.

I would make another call to the carrier and have them monitor the PRI and make a test call to see if the DTMF is passing, my bet is they are not passing the tones
