Had a phone tech come in to upgrade my system from 4.1 to 6.1. He backed up the config over the RAD and tried to install the software but had error so he downgraded back to 4.1. He basically defaulted the system and then uploaded the config via RAD. Now we can't get any PRI access inbound or out. Fast busy from outside and "No Free Lines" from set on ICS. Tried disable and reenable cars, no help. Sprint says d-channel from our end keeps dropping. Phone tech is MIA for a few days for surgery, so I'm stuck trying figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you defaulted back to 4.1 did you put the PRI keycodes back in?

when you downgrade a system or do a startup ...you loose the keycodes from the system's memory.

and in some cases of downgrade the system ID changes ...so your old set of keycodes will not work ...your installer will have to get nortel to regenerate and get a new set of keycodes to make the PRI work (or to change the systemID back to the original one)

Is the D channel down completely or dropping very often?

If I lost the key codes then I shouldn't be able to choose "Pri" should I? But, I did notice that when I switch off of Pri I couldn't go back to it again witout defaulting the system and reuploading from the RAD. Also,I think the sysID did change or at least I heard my vendor's tech say something to that effect. But he told me that if he reloaded the config from the laptop with the RAD it would be back to original state.

Anyone know an afforable place I can buy keycodes that they would give me the info over the phone so I don't have to wait for the package to arrive? Of course I would pay via CC up front.

just do a search on the internet on norstar and you'll be able to find someone that will sell you the keycodes. Most vendors will not give you the keycodes over the phone. Key codes from just about any vendor you find will cost you $300 - $400 if they have them. good luck

I have had problems with keycodes and changing hardware/software during an install. ITAS has the original keycodes and authorizations on the keycode generator computer. If you have the serial numbers of the original MICS as well as the serial number after the mess up then the nortel ITAS should be able to help your vendor walk thru recovering the keycodes without your having to buy them again. Hold their feet to the fire on this.

when you get good keycodes have them write the keycodes ledgebly with a permanant pen on the side of or the door of the KSU so you will always have them.

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

I doubt someone who accidentally erased PRI codes would have access to ITAS

We just had a tech run into a similar senario, upgrading from 5.0 to 6.1.

He's not sure if the NVRAM cartridge that was in the system was 2.0 or not. Install Manual says you need 2.0, so my question is--is this what is causing the error in the first place?

If the NVRAM cartridge is NOT 2.0, what would the steps be to replace that first, then do the 6.1 upgrade, all without losing the PRI keycode?
