MICS 6.1 with PRI experiencing PRI failures.
I get a few tickets a year at one site with a PRI. Can't call out. The one copper in the system works fine.
The resolution has always been to reboot the module and the PRI comes up immediately. I have installed a new UPS, with additional line (AC) filtering. The PRI card has been replaced. Telco, and we have a good Telco, cannot find any problems during the down time, except they can see the far end not working.
I am really out of guesses. A fried suggested that in Meridian PBX world PRIs have counters for slips and will shut down if too many slips are accumulated. Does the Norstar have anything like that, and if so where do I find it, and how many is too many?

Not arguing, but have you got any details? I don't need bulletin numbers, just your best recollection of what the problems were. I have a number of MICS with PRI, several at 6.1 and have never experienced this problem before. I always thought and found 6.1 to be extremely stable.

Some dont know it but they actualy have 6.1 MR not 6.1.
It all depends on how you use it and your application then you will get the bugs perhaps.

Some on this:

SRN 026: Aug 2004
Norstar MICS 6.1 MR wi 6.10 and CICS 6.1 MR wi 6.10 were released to the installed base in August 2004 as a maintenance release. SRN 02x replaces SRN 024 (MICS/CICS 6.1 MR wi6.05). This new release incorporates several fixes to the core software. A replacement process is in place and described below.

Issues resolved in MICS 6.1 MR wi 6.10
A frozen set display and subsequent failure of parking calls (F74) and retrieving parked calls can occur when picking up the handset during dialling of a number starting with the Park Prefix. A scenario where T1 E&M channels were locking up. A supervisor silent monitoring a hunt group call performs ‘join’, ‘leave’ and then ‘exit’ functions but remains connected to the call. Callers transferring through CAA (Centralized Auto Attendant) on NVM to the remote site get ‘dead air’ or an incorrect mailbox. PRI calls tandeming through the KSU via the ‘Auto’ DN’ or ‘DISA’ DN do not get completed when the caller paused during the dialling of the outgoing call.

i believe on of my issues were no line available on a t1 with 24 channels and no one there but me very intermittent...also at that point we decided to do a restart and rekey data base to make sure there was no corruption

Mismatched protocols can also cause some weird things to happen. Sometimes the CO's "records" don't reflect what's actually programmed in their switch, either. You might do well to get in touch with one of their 5E techs to find out if they're actually matching your config.

I had a similar issue with a MICS 5.0. Users could dial the digits but the call would release instantly after the last digit. Worked for a while after rebooting, swapping the DTI Card also didn't fix the problem. Put in a different MICS Cabinet with 7.0 software and has been running fine for 2-3 months.

bighands2468,
I have already checked a lot of the things people suggested, protocols, format and so on.

I am leaning towards replacing the cabinet and upgrading software to current.

If it's on a PRI check with telco to make sure "BCAS" ( B-channel associatiated signalling) is turned off. It will eventually lock up your span--calls come in ok but not out.

I have replaced the DTI card. N.G. Checked with telco and the PRI is on spec.
I will keep plugging. Thanks

I just re-read your original post. You said you installed a new UPS with additional line filtering- I'm assuming you mean AC filtering, and not CO filtering. (Running a PRI through a line filter would be bad.)

I know this is an old thread, but I just had a similar issue.

MICS 5.0 with PRI, working well for a few years switched carriers. After cutover, customer was dropping calls. I upgraded to 6.1MR. Same issue. CO said they were receiving errors from the KSU.

I spent a day and a half troubleshooting with the CO techs, and was ready to give up and call it a CO issue. As a last resort, I upgraded to 7.1 .

Once it booted up, the circuit ran clean.

The only info I was able to get from the co providers was- Old provider was running a 5E switch, new provider is using a Siemens switch.
