PRI connection from Nortel to Avaya

Has anyone ever installed a PRI T1 from an 81C to an Avaya 8710? I have tried various configurations on both systems and can't seen to get them to work. I end up with one side looking good and the other will have both the D channel and T1 up but the B channels will be in MSBY or out of sevice pins far end. For the IFC on the Nortel I have tried ESS4,ESS5 , D250, SL1. The most success I have had was with the Nortel and the Avaya set as IFC = SL1 in this configuration the Nortel looks fine but on the Avaya the T and sig group (D Channel) looks good but the B channels are out off servive far end.

have you tried QSIG - ISGF or ESGF on the Nortel, haven't a clue what QSIG is on the Avaya.

This Notel doesn't have the Qsig packages.

then you can do it, but not with a DChannel. Someone posted awhile back about emulating an ESS5/ESS4, but I could never get that to work. We went with a straight CAS T1 with no dchannel, but we didn't get name or number. If you upgrade to Succession, QSIG becomes standard.

I have installed QSIG Nortel to Avaya but only in the UK on 2mb here is the config don't know if you can adapt it but here you go.

The only inter-vendor protocol for PRI that I am aware of is QSIG. It was specifically designed for different vendors to be able to do PRI between them, ie Nortel to any other PBX vendor or network equip. The only way to get around this is if the other end can actually emulate some type of central offies, ESS5, DMS, etc. and be the network side of the circuit. As Avays is another PBX I seriously doubt they can actually emulate a central office. The Nortel PBX can only be the network side in an SL-1 to SL-1 configuration and the protocol used is proprietary. While if you setup an NI2 d-channel, it will let you make the Nortel the network side but there is an old product bulletin (I do not remember the number) that states in NI2 the network setting is only for testing. I do not think you will get a reliable setup any other way than QSIQ.
