Okay can anyone tell me if the preview view in Publisher 2007 for poster sized documents supposed to preview as mulitple pages with printer crop marks on it? The document will be sent to a pro printer so I am sure that he won't be printing the document as multiple pages.. how can I fix this?

Please.. :)

hi,

That is totally a function of the printer/driver that is active as you use this view.

For instance, I just did a 20in x 30in poster. Then I printed on my home HP printer & it produced 9 pages that I taped together to simulate the finished product.

I saved the poster as a .jpg and took it to Kinko's. They are printing on 20in x 30in sheet. Picking it up later today! :)

Thank you, I am still a little confused though as this laptop is not hooked up to any printers (although there may be one loaded on at some stage) and as I am taking the file to a printer to have it printed does that mean that he can only print it as seperate pages or should I save it as a Jpeg file?..

I don't think he wants a JPEG file though... the poster is approx 1600mm x 600mm (30" x 62")..

YOU should KNOW what formats your printer can use, don't you think? Mine could use a .jpg.

Ask and then do it!

To get the print preview you want - the whole page - install the drivers for a printer that WILL be able to print the whole page - even though it will never be connected to your laptop. Then Publisher will show you the preview as it will print on the large format printer.

Normally yes I would know exactly what formats my printer can use, but at the moment I am in China and attempting to design a poster for a company here, as no one can speak English including the printer I cannot ask. I have tried yes but the printer does not understand what I am asking, I gave him a JPEG file and he could not do it.

for the print preview, if you can get to tek-tips, you can likely also get to - just pick a large format printer -say an HP Designjet - that is more than big enough for the poster you have in mind, download and install the drivers, then you'll be able to see a print preview.
Create both a JPEG and TIF, the print shop should be able to handle one or the other...

Thank you so much Fred! I'll do that today!

:)

Short of going thru all that, simply save as a .pdf, .jpg or .tif and view in the appropriate viewer.
