When previewing thumbnails in windows xp explorer, photoshop icon appears not the image of the file.

I google re: this and found out that Adobe took this ability out as there were problem with saving etc.

However, there are programs (scripts) on internet to add to the adobe folder to "reactivate" this.

Yes, I can go the Bridge, but it's so freakin slow!

Please advise.

I don't want to corrupt the program, registry etc.

In the explorer toolbar goto View and see what the setting is there, from your description it sounds as if it is set to "Tiles" or "Icons" if it is just click on "Thumbnails" and all should be well.

Please verify your preferences : in <File Handling> be sure <Image preview> --> always save is selected. This makes a compatible subnail with no time spent, but a slightly greater file. Hope it helps

Use tif rather than PSD files. Tifs save everything that PSDs do, allow some compression, and can be viewed by Windows Explorer. There is a limit however. Multi-layer tifs will show only a portion of the full image.
