Hi guys, is it possible to prevent an LSP from automatically re-registering to a main server and becoming dormant even if the latter can already be seen by that LSP?

there are some "media gateway recovery rules", which applies to the remote media gateway, but also to the LSP within that gateway, since it controlls when the failback oocurs.

look at "change sys mg-recovery x" (x=1 to 50)

Migrate H.248 MG to Primary options are: immediatley, 0-active-calls, time-day-window, time-day-OR-0-active-calls

Really? Never realized those rules also apply to the LSP server, I think I'll have to try it out. Thanks Mitch672!

Hi,

I'm facing the same question at a client site. If you set mg-recovery-rule to time-day-window you can't leave the window empty...

How could we do to leave the remote site in LSP and get it back passive manually (If I'm right, doing a reset system 4 on the lsp server) ?

And is it possible to "force" a server in LSP ?

Thank you !

Nicolas

Yep, there is no "manual" method to fail it back, the best you can do is time-of-day window, and make it like 1 or 2AM or so, and it will try to rejoin during that window.

The only way to "force" an S8300 LSP into LSP mode is to break its WAN/LAN IP connectivty to the main site, it will then go into survivable mode and become active.

Well, what if there's no recovery rule set on the gateway, would it still register automatically to the main server once the LSP sees it?

Leave the recovery rule blank on the gateway. That should take care of it for you.

You can force a site into LSP mode by disabling the network-region it is associated with. Once it is in LSP mode you can enable the registration if you wish or you can wait until you are ready to perform the reset sys 4 on the 8300 and then enable reg reg x where x = net region.

Hope this helps.

I didn't knew the disable/enable ng-registration, that will help !

Thank you !

you could set the mgc list transition point to 1 greater then the number of main servers you have. ie if you have 1 main server to connect to (or clan) make the transition point 2 and the mgc will onlt since to the lsp ans stay that way until a reset is preformed on the lsp
