Is there a simple snippet of code that I can use that will stop people accessing a master front end? I want people to have a copy of the front end on their desktops for obvious speed/traffic issues, but they are accessing a networked copy. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Put the Front end and backend in different folders and stop the users having access to the front end folder with your network security access rights.

Thanks Neil, a simple answer that does the trick.

David,

Also, I would automate the way the user accesses the database. Check out my article on Deploying Databases, on my website. With the method I use, users only get a shortcut, which points to a batch file, which copies the new version of the FE to their machine only if they need it, and then opens the database.

Jeremy,

I utilised your deployment method and it is working well, thanks. I also force the users to update if a new FE is available for download by means of a time/date stamp comparison between the FE and BE (held in tables). That's working quite nicely too. I think I'll be adopting this update method for other DBs throughout our company.
Once again, thanks.
