How Can I prevent users from deleting and moving files in Windows 2000 Server file? At the same time they should have no problem in doing their work.

Thanks,

JM

We will need much more information than you have provided.

What do they need to do their work? Must they be able to read & write to files?

In order to delete, you must have Modify permission.

I need them to work as they normally do with the exeption of deleting or moving folders around. They should be able to create, add, modify, execute, read, write individual folders.

When you are looking at Security in the folder properties click "advanced" then under "permissions" double-click on the user or group. You'll see the options you need there.

Suggest you get "Undelete" from Executive software. MS unlike Novell fails to provide a means to keep folders from being deleted or moved. With "undelete", you will not have to go to tape backup for accidently deleted files or folders.
