Hi

Since my clients whole data centre is of very high availablity, we updated all host files on Networker servers and clients although we are using DNS.

The eliminates the issue when you have DNS problems and therefore miss crucial backups due to backup window. Usually the backup operators haven't got knowledge of DNS problem resolution and therefor a lot of valuable time is wasted.

Just be careful. That setup can be high maintenance, especially in a large, rapidly changing environment.

Or you could use NIS if you're running Unix....but be careful with nsswitch.conf.
