I would like to prevent ALL OUTBOUND calls between 21:00 and 09:00. How can this be done?

Thanks
-Keith-

Use the time-of-day routing feature. Fairly simple to setup. We have a G3r v11 and use it in our call center everyday.

I'm talking about OUTBOUND calls.

You need to set up partitioning if it isn't already done. If you are routing direct to route patterns in your ARS Analysis form, you need to change them to r numbers (eg r1, r2, r3). In Partition group 1 you then place the corresponding route patterns. In Partition group 2, you enter deny next them all. Then you set up a time of day schedule to route calls accordingly. Since your asking the question, I suspect this is all Greek to you. If you e-mail at telcoguy@vancouver.hm, I'll send you some excel sheets with an example. Before you, do check all the COR's in your switch and see if the "Time of day" prompt is set to 1 in all of them. If not, let me know, it gets a mite more complex.

PS to above, I'm assuming your switch is Rls 7 or above, if its rls 6, its a bit different, but doable.

It's not Greek. I've administered a G3 in one form or another for ten years. I've never had to restrict outbound calls based on time of day however.

How? Where do you set the time of day schedule? I completely understand ars and partitioned group numbers.

I was not trying insult your intelligence, a lot of guys on this Forum are IT guys whose management has dumped the PBX maintenance on them with no training. Anyways, assuming you are only using one partition group (1). Go to "change time of day 1". 1 to 8 is allowed. In default, these correspond one to one with the 8 partition groups. What you need to do is take a spare partition group and put deny in all the rows corresponding to "p" numbers in the ARS form ("r' numbers in the partition form. Next, go to the time of day form and leave it as default in the PGN column for all the hours you want the PBX to allow outbound. Enter the partition number that you have denied under the restricted hours. You might want to ensure 911 calls aren't included.
If you are using partitioning, you will have to do this for every time of day you have defined in the COR's of your switch. Hopefully you have one spare.

I do not have a command "change time of day". I am running version 10. Is this something new in 11??

No, its been there all along. Check "display system parameters customer options" around page 3 or 4 and see if it is enabled. (time of day routing) Never had a switch where it wasn't. You may have to get Avaya to turn it on.

Be careful how you restrict things.
You will want to still have emergency access. (ie 911)

It's turned off. I'll call Avaya.

Thanks

Another option Keith, if it costs too much and you don't mind doing it manually, you can use alternate FRL's. This is controlled by a single alt-frl key somewhere on the system, usually the attendant Console. The form is "Change Alternate-FRL". This will change all the FRL's in the system while the key is activated. To block all outgoing, you would generaly put 0 in the right hand column next to all the FRL'S. Once again you would want to make sure 911 is the only one assigned to a specific FRl & leave that alone.

Thanks beddows, that's a good idea, however, I don't want to rely on someone pushing a button and there will be no one in the office at the time I want to start preventing outbound calls.
