Hi all,

I am trying to secure a voicemail system from outgoing calls.

I would like to do two things:
1. reset all users voicemail passwords.
2. disable out dial feature.

I am not sure how to do either.

I am using a norstar voicemail systemm 8x24-ds

any/all help is appreciated.

What type of Norstar Voice Mail system?

The 8x24-ds is the KSU / 8-in, 24-ports / Disconnect Supervision. This information is not of much help...

dont know - how do i find out?

If you are just stopping calls to be forwarded from voicemail, just set your outdial in each mailbox to none..Make sure you also set this on genral delivery any other mailbox you have setup..

is there a way to set all of them to none in one shot?

what is the difference between line and pool?

also, how do i change the mailbox admin password?

where can i download the Norstar Voice Mail Manager? will that help me setup all the parameters?

just looking through the settings: i can only set outdial to line or pool; unless i have to hit another code to get none?

There are many things that need to be done in order to prevent toll fraud with the VM. Restricting the out-dial from mailboxes is a start, but that may not be the route they are getting out on. In order to prevent fraud it really takes someone with a complete knowledge of the systems involved, which is why I recommend you call a qualified Nortel vendor if this is an urgent matter. In fact you should find one who has experience with this problem.

I have to agree with bkrike here.....just from your questions I would suggest calling a vendor. The toll fraud will likely cost more than you would spend on vendor.

thanks all,

i'll make it so. i have talked with a vendor and our old system doesn't support call forward to an outside line or remote access. flash based system (don't know what that means)

any ideas how to proceed?

You may want to consult another vendor, even though the system doesn't support external call forwarding there are things in the voicemail that can be done to dial out of the system.
