Is there an easy straight forward way to prevent any external mail going to any Distribution groups that we have set up internally?

If there isn't a staright forward easy way is there any way??

On the exchange general tab of the group there is a message restrictions section. have fun :)

Removing the SMTP address means you can't send to that smtp address. The DG still has a directory name, and you can still use imcea encapsulation over smtp to send to it. Your best bet is a restriction at the connector.
