I expect there is some simple setting that I have overlooked. How do I prevent Outlook 2003 from automatically doing a RECEIVE when it starts up? I don't always want everything that is on my webmail to be downloaded.

Thanks

Change it to manually control connection state and select Offline use as the default.

Paulha - don't use a password

ntinlin - Looked for the setting but don't see it. Where is it?

uncheck
send immediately when connected

you can then click settings and uncheck any of the other options you dont want turned on.

Have you tried to uncheck the include the group in the send receive option?

Uncheck the box
Include This Group in the Send/Receive (F9)

The other way is to have Outlook start in the work offline mode.

tlcscousin: that last suggestion did it. send immediately is checked and include this group... is unchecked.

thanks - and a star
