Hi,

I'm trying to import a graphic into PageMaker, and it has a transparent background. When I import it into the program though, the background is either white or grey on screen, and it prints that way too. I checked the element properties and PageMaker seems to think it is transparent (transparency is checked), but it doesn't treat it that way. How can I preserve the transparency? email me at chandra@scribendi.com.
Thanks!!

ckc, i have to ask, is this image, or was it ever a grayscale? i have had the same prob. with the background being just slightly gray, and it gets stuck to the image after i convert it. so i suggest checking that possibility! it might be cleared up by scanning the graphic or editing in someother program, do you have photoshop or something else you can edit the image in? hope that works! fortin@nashuachamber.com

I have the same problem with all imported graphics files except ture metafiles (ie no bitmap content) and other vector formats such as CGM. Transparent GIFs are not transparent and this restricts the usefulness of PM6.5 terribly. Am I missing something obvious?

ckc: this is only possible by EPS export by e.g. PhotoShop,
using a Clipping Path. Then an additional trick is necessary:
Rotate the image in PM a small angle like 0.01° until it works.
It´s better to edit the source image by +90° and rotate then
in PM by -90°. (Nobody knows why this trick is necessary).
