Situation:

Customer has Companion and Prelude. Their MICS is 4.0 with PRI and 8 analog trunks. NAM rls unknown.. guessed at 4.0 too.

Complaint: Companion handset can't transfer a call back to any cue .. ext 291/292. Companion can't tranfer a call to a voice mail box F986.

Customer had local Telco set this up. They went through so much agravation with it NO ONE touches it so I can't get my hands on it (yet?).

Thoughts??

Rob,
Well that was cut and dried. Thanks. No way around either?

PhM

Rob,
Will Spectra Link solve the issue without other unwanted changes?

PhM

Can you do the above steps with an M7310? If so then the Spectralink should be able to do it too. Gonna cost you a bit of $$$ to do a conversion.

If you can't do it with a normal digital set, then there may be no way to do it without re-programming something.

How many handsets do they need? I really like the T7406 as long as they don't need more than a few handsets and the base is mounted high up and central to area of use.

Rob,
They are running 20+ companion sets. The features they're having trouble with are doable from any digital set, just not from a Companion set. I find this odd. But that's why I posted.

What version of Norstar do they have?
The first couple of releases you had to hook an ATA up to a trunk port access through a line pool code and use link* commands for paging and park etc...
For versions higher than 2.0:
A transfer is done using the link key.
Additional features can be programmed into the directory using pseudo speed dials (macro type feature lists saved in the directory).
You can also program the three soft keys on the 3050 or 3060 for on hook and off hook features.
When you hit the later releases like 4.0 XC integration gets pretty tight.

I've had Companion phones and analog handsets logging into the groups before you should not have too much trouble unless your release is less than 2.0

Aragon,
As above MICS 4.0

Are you suggesting that the dial strings to transfer to voice mail must be set up in the speed dials and showing on an off hook soft key?
What about transfering to one of the cue's 291 or 292? To my way of thinking, that should be just a simple 'link 71+cue/ext No.' ?

PhM

The link key usually lights up when off hook.
Have you tried simply pushing the link key and entering the transfer DN number?

I'll ask if I can try. What about F986 .. transfering a call to a mailbox?

PhM

Link *986 should work programmed as a directory entry and then programmed to an off hook soft key.

Aragon,
That's what I thought too.. I wanted to be on pretty firm ground before shooting my yap off too hard.

Cheers

I have 7 companion phones in our shop and we cannot do the F986 from the companion. It appears to go through, but unlike the deskphone it will not automatically transfer the line when you type F986.

And since Nortel dropped the Companion line, my only source of parts seems to be E-bay. Which is making us lean in another direction.

The key system stuff seems to work fairly well, but we do need wireless capabilities since we have 4 buildings on our manufacturing campus. Did most everyone else got to Spectralink?
