Hi there, so you have a 406 V2 and your moving to a 500. I am going to assume you have modules of your 406v2. If you have check you have all the right licenses as your 500 will need to be in professional mode.

I would rewrite, due to the differences in with the 500. Its a bit of a pain agreed.

I have not ever tried exporting and importing, may want to try it but not sure of the results you would have.

One tip that I missed in the documentation but went back and tried... if you don't rebuild your config but use the existing config, install it on to the IP500 BEFORE installing trunk or DS cards. Otherwise your line numbers get screwed up.

See Tech Bulletin 80, section 8.5 "Upgrading an IP400 to an IP Office 500 System"

Thanks guys.... Yes I Will be useing 1 DS30 Module from the 406V2, and the only license they have on the existing 406 is VM Pro.
Now is thier a particuler 4.0 load that is better than the other?

Why are you going from a 406v2 to an IP-500....

Ps export and import users will work.

Make sure you get all your licenses. You are really doing a new install, just salvaging one existing piece of hardware(DS30), and the VMPRO Server(PC). Look in your config on the existing system, make a list of the licenses, and make sure you have all of these in your list of licenses you are ordering. The IP500 will also require some additional licenses based on the features you wish to install. I am not sure on the proccess for returning, and or getting a credit for the old license key dongle, and licenses. I am assuming Avaya will buy them back(credit) for an upgrade.

The reason my customer wants to upgrade, is because of the VCM resources. I try to encourage my customers to hold of for now on upgrading to the 4.0 load, unless they absolutly need it due to problems or needed new features. Which has'nt happened yet, well up to now......

Make sure you have your nike's on.
