I want to run a test restore to a different server than the one that Exchange is running on. I have tapes made with NTBackup. How can I restore exchange to a differently-named server on the same network, so I can gain confidence that it works? [sig][/sig]

Start NTBackup and then do a restore and point it to the server of your choice. Works best if you have a tape drive on the restore server.

stop exch services.
copy priv.edb, pub.edb and tmp.edb to the new server. Run isinteg -patch on the new server and start the services.

If everything runs ok, make a batch file to do this for you each night.

Then you don't even have to think about restoring the data as it has been done!!! [sig]
Zel

[/sig]

The Server that acts as my exchange server, has had a name change. How do I get Exchange to recognize the name change?
