I'm running SuSE 8.0 pro, i have SuSE firewall2 running. I have open ports 22 for ssh and 21 for ftp and 1723 for pptp (VPN from Microshaft client). I'm opening the connection from remote machine and it times out. Of course when I disable the firewall it works fine.

Question: Does anyone know what other ports it could be using. What else do I have to allow the firewall to pass through ?

cheers

Ok people, I'm replying for your good as I've found what I was missing.

in the /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 (config file) there is a section for VPN/Routing and in addition to 1723 for pptp you need to have put in port 47 (if using KDE you can not do this from YaST2 you have to edit the file yourself)

FW_SERVICES_EXT_IP="1723 47"
