Hi,

We're in the same building as an ISP that sells DSL access. They've rented us 1Mb of bandwidth and provided an Ethernet connection. We are to use PPPOE for connection/authentication and to pick up dns server information, etc.

I've done this on DSL routers before with an Ethernet port with PPPOE and a virtual Dialer interface but never from an Ethernet port alone. This is an 871 router.

Anyone have any insight (sample code would be hugely appreciated!) on this process?

Thanks!
David

Hello
Did the ISP give you any kind of information on the link?Till you get the right info from them, you could just connect the router and give it a "ip address dhcp" and see what happens.

They gave me a static IP and PAP credentials. Said the gateway, mask, DNS would be supplied automatically upon authentication.

Hello
This seems like pppoe.try setting up the router as a pppoe client, put in your pap credentials and it should work.To be on the safe side, give them a call and ask for the encapsulation type.
