I'm using an Alcatel Speed Touch Home ADSL modem with BEFW11S4 router from Linksys and I keep getting the abovementioned error mesage. I've checked my user ID and password are correct.

I noticed that when I click on the "Status" tab, the error message pops up and didn't see the "PPPoE enabled" as told. The lights of the modem did blink in attempt to connect but after awhile stopped and the error message appeared again. What could be wrong?

I just learnt that the Speed Touch Home doubles as a router/bridge itself...how do I disable this feature in order to be able to use it with the BEFW11S4? really need some help here...thanks!!!

Melvin

Call your ISP about disabling that feature in the Speed Touch Home. They should fully support that.

Secondly, double-check with your ISP that your username and password are correct. Just to make sure, have them try it as well. I'm willing to bet that's the problem.

Don't forget that when using PPPoE from your router, sometimes you need to include the domain with your username. For example, you might normally sign in with an ID like:

Melvin9999

but if you used SBC Global DSL for instance, then you would have to use

Melvin9999 @ sbcglobal.net

without the spaces as your username. Does that make sense?

here what you must do..
1. input in your username@sbcglobal.net and password on the router
2. type domain name of your isp under domain on the setup page of the router..
2. copy the mac address of your nic card/network adapter
go to advance and then mac address clone and input the mac address/physical address of the nic card and apply..
3. after that shutdown everything..
4. power up the modem.. wait for it to finish booting up
then the router.. the the computer..
5. try your internet connection..if not upgrade the firmware of your router ..
you can get this at

djugashvili,
Could you kindly post what solved the problem?

Thanks...
