Hello,

we are experiencing a performance problem with the dimension viewer in PowerPlay Web User. After expanding a dimension folder it takes up to 30 seconds to show the dimension elements of the next level, even if there is only one element in this level.

Is there a way to improve performance (e.g. by pre-caching)?

Thanks for your help,
Auchen

This can be related to the temporary file settings for the browser -
Delete all Temporary Internet files

Steps -

From IE browser Menu select
Tools > Internet Options > General >
Select Delete Files
Click OK

I would then lower the size allowed for temp files as well.
Tools > Internet Options > Settings
Remember to set this, apply, then close all open browsers before re-testing.
If this does not help, make sure you have set a reasonable value for Read cache in config manager (try 65536 on most servers) - stop and start the service. You could also try setting the process limits for the cube in PPES admin to a min of one so it is started before any requests come in.
If none of that makes a difference, then are you in an unusual envirnoment? IS Citrix involved? Browser latest version and service packs? Unusual dimension structure (alternate drill downs, special time categories)? All areas to check =) Good luck!
