I have found how to change the first page number, but not how to start numbering other than on the first page. There is an option, a check box, on file/page setup, to forego the page number on the title page, but when I check it the number "1" stays on the first page. Do I need to somehow designate the first page as the title page? Just a thought. I don't want the page number 1 on the first page which is my title page.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi,
What version of Word are you using? How did you enter the page number? Did you use the header/footer toolbar or the Insert | Page numbers command?

Checking the Different first page option in Page Setup should remove any numbering from the first physical page of the doc.

There is no "Different First Page" option on my Power Point 2000, that I can find. The page setup window is small and contains only size, orientation and the check box referring to title page.

Let's see if I understand what you want...

You want your first slide to be the title page and the next slide to be slide number one, right?

Just goto >>> File | Page set-up ... | Number slides from ...
And change the number to 0 (zero). Your title will be number zero and the first 'real' slide will be number 1.

So far so good, but I want no number to show up on page one. I want the 2 to show up on page two.

Ok, good.

Now, while on the slide that you do not want the number to appear on, select View | Header and Footer ... | then uncheck the slide number box and click on apply (not apply to all).

This allows you to modify what info will be shown on what slide. It is not very intuitive, but very useful.
