I need to have page numbers in the lower left hand corner that are vertical. (The slides are going in a document that has a paper orientation of portrait.)

I also need the page # to start at 3 and continue on through the rest of the powerpoint file.

Anyone know how to do this?

Edit the location of the Page Number Box on the Slide Master.

Orient it in the same way as you would turn a Drawing Box.

This works on the slide as well as the Slide Handouts.

I was able to get the page numbers to start from 3 by going to page setup. And by checking slide number in header and footer of slides I was able to get the slide number to show up on all slides.

I went into the slide master (view->master-> slide master), I was able to orient the page number vertically. But on the slides in powerpoint 2003 and when I print them the page numbers are still horizontal. Any ideas how to fix this?

Do you suppose it's just a matter of the slides existed before the change was made and now need the slide layout reapplied? To test...

Make desired changes to Master Slide
(or, just double check that it looks the way you want)

Go to the Slide Sorter View and select one slide

Format > Slide Layout > Reapply

If that worked, then...

Go to the Slide Sorter View
Ctrl+A
Format > Slide Layout > Reapply
