Hi, I have an HTML file on my Network that has link to various files. However Links will not work in IE for powerpoint files. It has the progress bar on the bottom saying it is downloading it and then nothing. Why will the file not open? I would like people on the network to be able to open the file through the HTML file and use it. It works for other files such as Word documents etc. The same problem happens in all versions I have of IE. It also works in Netscape. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Kib, On the PC that you are attempting to open the PowerPoint with, does it have MS PowerPoint or the PowerPoint Viewer installed?

You say it works with Netscape? But, not in any version of IE correct.

Hi!
Yes I have Powerpoint installed on the computer that I am using. And that is correct it will work with netscape but not IE.
Thanks :)

Speaking as one that does not like IE's browser integration feature (opens the file in the browser rather than in the application itself outside the browser) I uncheck the option "Browse in the same window" for the PPT file association in Windows Explorer (TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS - FILE TYPES)

Is that a viable solution for you? joegz

joegz, I did not know about that one thanks I'll keep it in mind for myself.

Kib, I'm still scratching my head. I'm sure you have all of the updates installed, right.
