I have and excel spreadsheet with severat tabs. Each tab contains 1 to 3 charts and chart data. I have copied the chart and data area of each tab and, in Power Point, paste special Link into a power point slide. Everything seems to be working. When opening the power point file .ppt I get the standard warning about linked fields asking if I want to update the data. I click Update and I get the following error messages: "File error: Data May Have Been Lost." I have three slides and I get this error 6 times. I have validated all data IS being updated from the spreadsheet correctly.

One other issue. When I open the spreadsheet by itself I get the same error twice.

Any Ideas why this may be happening? And, if there is not fix...can I turn off warnings with VBA like I do in other Office programs?

Thanks....and happy new year tonight.

First, try repairing the Excel file. It may be corrupted. The info to repair a file is available under Help in Excel "Repair a corrupted file"

xlhelp,
I must do some further explaination.
I have a MS access db for my users. They enter their data there. In the excel spreadsheet I inport data from the DB queries. From this data I create charts. I then created a PowerPoint presentation so the managers can show the charts along with other slides. The Charts are linked into the powerpoint.

A few of the queries from the DB are returning null information to the Excel spreadsheet....no data entered for those items yet. In these cases header titles fromm the DB come across and show on the spreadsheet but without any rows of information. For the charts associated with no data from the db I have manually entered the rows below the heading titles with zeros.

Everything works fine except for the errors (2).

I did the repair thingy you suggested. No help.

I have since Cleared All information from a copy of the spreadsheet....so nothing is coming from the db. I still get the errors. I then started deleting charts from the spreadsheet. Still got errors until the final chart was removed. I now have a blank spreadsheet and no errors. Not exactly what I wanted.

Any more suggestions? And thanks ahead of time.
