PowerPoint arrives as .txt

I work for a Fortune 500 company and I have a PowerPoint 2007 issue. I have an end user that has created a presentation. She has emailed it to several other end users. For some of those end users, when they receive the email, the presentation has converted to a .txt file and they are unable to open it. The recipients are internal the same as the sender and they are all on Office 2007. She has sent it to one recipient in particular several times and it arrives as a .txt every time. She has emailed it to me and it arrived as a .pptx as it is supposed to. I cannot upload the document as it is confidential.Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

I know that some e-mail applications will either block or change the extension of 'potential' virus threats. Has anybody attempted to change the extension of the attached file to .pptx and see if it opens?

Yes, I did save it to their hard drive and rename it and it converted back into a PowerPoint. I failed to mention that before. My boss more or less wanted to know why this happens. My apologies for leaving that out. I was thinking along those lines about what you said pertaining to potential threats. Why did some people get a .ppt and other a .txt though. Maybe they have some sort of rule set. I have no clue at this point.

Have you checked with your Fortune 500 IT Dept?

I would assume that you have one and THERE is where you would get a specific answer and not an educated guess at what security controls your IT dept has in place.
