Hi,

When I try to connect to the PowerPlay Enterprise Server from my PC using the batch administration tool, the following error message is returned:

Connect to PowerPlay Server failed.
The request failed because the value is out of range.

I have tried different variations of the CONNECT command including the one below, but none would work.

CONNECT server_name USER Administrator PASSWORD admin_password

Any idea what might be going wrong?

Thanks
Thampi

Try with the port number
CONNECT server_name:port_number USER Administrator PASSWORD admin_password
If you are using the default settings the port_number is 8010

Thanks.
I tried using the port number, but it didn't help!
I do not know what else to try. Any help will be appreciated.
Is there a limitation on the number and type of characters that the PP Server name can have? I have 15 characters in the server name and one of them is a "-" (hyphen) character.

Thanks
Thampi

I think I figured it out.
I am using the server in non-Access Manager mode, so I had to use the format

CONNECT server_name:port/password

That was the only format I hadn't tried earlier!!

How do I redirect output from a server command to a file? I want to write the names of all the cubes/reports that I have deployed on the server to a text file.

I tried both
LIST ./ > C:\test.txt and
LIST ./ >> C:\test.txt
but they did not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Nishil

The only way I know is to type everything in the command line .
Start PPadmtool with the list of command

D:\Program Files\Cognos\cer2\bin>PPADMTOOL CONNECT ServerName:portNumber USER myuser PASSWORD mypassword LIST >C:\output.txt

Thanks. It works and it seems to be the only way to make it work.

Hi All,

I am using Powerplay enterprise server. I am facing a problem on performance. Connecting to 30meg cube with a local connection it is faster where as conencting remotely through powerplay enterprise it is slow on alternate path.

I tried changing readcache and sortmemory, still it is not helping too much. I am using powerplay 7 series.

Does anybody has any suggestion on this matter?
