hello how did you configure 6.x you need an agent which is not part of 6.x!

An agent is a part of 5.x either. The agent is a different peice of software that runs on the host.

With a FC4500 .. Heres a quick run down on how to setup.

You setup a Management server that has the management server installed on it.. That server has a navi agent pointing to both lan ports on the fc4500.

Ie.

landevice 192.168.100.65
landevice 192.168.100.66

You setup the mangement server to be a portal. Its an option in Navi under tools.

Navi 6.x doesn't have to be installed on the management server. However mine is.. So when I run navi I just login and I'm ready to go.

to setup hosts.

You just do the same thing..

put

device auto auto "auto"

in the agent.config file.
also add one more line.

system@management server ip.

hello
i have the system running with the agent 5.2 that works ok but cant configure failover.
so my question is
1. do i need the agent of the 5.2 version or is there a new agent in the 6.x version?
2. if there is a agent in the 6.x version how do i configure the agent? i cant find the agent.config file
thx

can you past the agent config file in your next message.

5.2 agent I don't believe will support what your trying to do.

You need host agent 6.x.

Here is a post of my agent.config file on my Management server.

this is located in:

C:\program files\EMC\Navisphere Agent\agent.config

Depending on how your explorer is setup you might not see the extention of the file. If you go to tools, folder options, view tab, uncheck the "hide file extention"

Here is my management server agent.config file.

The device auto auto "auto" isn't nessacary unless your management server is setup with a fiber connection and you plan on connecting LUN's to that server.

In my case I am hence the device auto auto "auto
