Hi Folks,
Just wanna know if anyone has encountered this problem before. My computer (working perfectly about 30 mins ago) now will not turn on. The power cord is fine, the computer itself is fine (i connected up another PS to it and it started first time) and the PS itself is only a good 3 days old (450Watts PS). When i go to turn it on, the fans spin about once or twice before it turns itself off again. Now has anyone a clue whats wrong with it? or should i just take it back and replace (which i'd prefer not to do as its a pain)

Thanks All, any suggestions woudl be helpfull.

IMHO
No power supply running = no power.
If there is a switch on the back of it for voltage make sure it is set right.
You can also try a different cord.

If not...take it back...pain or not.

Good Luck! Kimber

No Switch at the back man, and No PS = No power! thanks for clearing that one up for me! durrr.

I just want to know if anyone knows a trick to fix it or somthing otherwise i'll rip the bastard out and take it back.

I wasn't trying to be smart...but a PSU is not a field repairable unit unless you know what you are doing...and you might be shocked to find that people miss the easy stuff looking for something complicated. I have fixed systems power problems by putting the thing in a different outlet! I don't leave anything to chance.

If you know a little about hardware (or a lot, I have no way of knowing) and have already checked these things, nothing you can do with it.
No "durrr" about it. [lol] Kimber

You are getting a crowbar shutdown. Some part of the PS is coming up too high or too low and the sucker is shutting down to protect the system.
Definite time to replace. Ed Fair

I don't know what the percentage is but if ellectronic hardware is going to fail it is most likely to fail straight away or in the first few days of use, that is why the more reputable builders BURN IN there systems, so don't be surprised that your PSU has failed now, at only a few days old, because thats statistically the most likely time.

Thanks everyone, i thought that might be the problem, u know it either works first time forever, or screws up on the first couple of days and is no good.just means i have to undo all the work i did putting it in and hideing all the cables n stuff. Thanks again people.
