I have a Poweredge 2600 server with 1 processor - a Intel 2.8Ghz 533 Mhz 512kb L2 cache. Decided to add in a 2nd processor, I have bought an identical processor and a 2nd VRM module.

Installed this in today and the server will not boot up!!

Tried the new processor and VRM as a single processor and that works fine.

Checked to make sure both processors are identical and it is.

Have upgraded the bios to the latest - A14.

Have you any idea why it will not boot? Is there something I'm missing?

Cheers

Before installing second processor, did you change the drivers for dual procesors in Device Manager?
If not, you have to reinstall Windows. (I assume you are running Windows)

All working now, the 2nd VRM was faulty so replaced with a new one and all working now.
Thanks.
