powercut while installing os x

i had a power cut while installing os x on to my imac 1999 using os 9.1, now my monitor will not turn on, i can hear the drive running, i tried booting it using the c key but to no availe!!! when i try to turn it off the disc drive makes a strange noise and when i insert a cd into the drive the green light flickers and dulls asif it has somekind of battery faliure, but using the mains!!!! it looks like it is dying, shud i just take it to a repairers and ask them to wipe everything and install os x, will that cost alot, can it be done, is there anything i can do to get the monitor to activate!!! i will love u foreva if u ca help me! danny
 
You are assuming it costs a lot of money. In any case, I would find a family owned local computer store, and develop a relationship with them.
It may be $100, or $300....but it is cheaper than buying a new one.
People in the tech world seem to have a problem calling for help.
