Hey Everyone,

I am in the process of removing users from their administrative groups and adding them as power users.

I have one minor little problem since i've started. On some computers after removing the users from admin group and adding them as power users I am unable to open outlook. I receive an error (1203 or 2103). I also noticed that when i switch the user to a power user their desktop background is no longer available and they cannot even change whether to view the control panel in classic mode.

Any ideas, the only thing i can think of is change them back to admins but then of course that would defeat the purpose.

Thanks

Hi Mike

Are new profiles getting created for the users when you switch from admins to power users? look in C:\Documents and Settings for a new profile.

If so

Rename the old profile to math the new one, or copy contents of old to new. you also might have to give permissions to the outlook folder or pst file.

Hey Trevor,

The accounts that i am moving were once admins. I'm just removing them and adding them to power users. There is only one profile on the pc itself.

Not too sure what else i can do. Wierd things happen such as the background is gone and defaults to the original xp background and office wont even start.

Have you tried reinstalling Office on one of the machines to see if it fixes the problem?

I've tried reinstalling office as an admin and same issue. When i try to install it as power user i receive an internal error 2103.

the power user permissions are troubling. Someone with power user options does not even see their desktop background but when i move them to admin they can see their background.

I've tried making some registry changes but still no luck.
