Motherboard: Abit-NF7 S
Processor - Athlon XP 2600

Connected all together, worked fine. Closed case and failed to power up since.

There is power to the motherboard as the red light on the board is on.

When powering up (plug in power cable, press on switch), the light next to the red light flickers green very quickly then goes off. The lights on the SPDIF Out connector also flashes and goes straight off.

The processor fans do not start, even though they are connected up.

I have tried with the memory (DDR 512mb), plus video card (GEForce 2) disconnected all to no avail.

Can't tell if there is a beep sequence, as the speaker wire is broken and needs re-soldering.

Any ideas???

thanks

Jason

disconnect or remove all non vital components,
all you need to get video is Motherboard, Processor, Videocard, Power Supply and Ram. then power try to power it up. also if that does not work re-assemble it out side the case, the motherboard could be shorting due to contact with the case.

More information would be helpful but the usual suspects on a new system build are:
Memory
Power supply (possibly gone on one line)
Video card not seated correctly
Main power plug not seated properly
Heatsink/fan not fitted correctly (180degrees out so not sitting squarely on core and overheating)
Clear Cmos before you start
Always best to go with minimum components connected so you only have several possibilities.

You Say the speaker wire is broken... Did you some how break it while trying to put the cover on?
You may also have other wires broken if you happened to pinch them in the cover, even if they are not chopped through, look for any that look kinked. Also check that they are all plugged in securely.
