Power Point Problem

Hi
Can any one help me with Power point problem I'm having.
I'm trying to record a narration on a presentation and I'm
getting the following message when I try to adjust the microphone level."Power point is notb receiving sound from
the microphone, go to control panel and multimedia and check the record settings and try again.

Have you configured the microphone previously? Have you been able to use it in other applications?

Is the microphone you are using compatible. ie is it a PC Mike?

Is the Recording section disabled in Control Panel/MultiMedia?

Is the Preferred Device in the Control Panel/MultiMedia option set to a specific device or "(Use any available device)"?

If you can click on the Microphone Icon in the MultiMedia dialog box it will display the recording settings, make sure the Mic control isn't muted
