power options problem ????

I face this very odd problem on my win2kpro machine. I leave the for sometime and when I come back, the monitor is blank. I press enter, alt+ctrl+del, power the monitor on/off, nothing .....
Ultimately, I have to reboot by switching of the power supply and switching it on again.
This has been happening many times now everytime I leave the machine unattendd for some time and is turning out to excrutiatingly annoying.

I changes the power options to the following and restarted, but I have no luck even then.
power schemes -> always on
turn off monitor -> never
turn off hard disks -> never
system standby -> never
system hibernates -> never

You should also verify the power options in your systems BIOS. You may have a conflict with the OS settings, and the BIOS is kicking in. I would try turning power management off in the BIOS, and see what happens.
