I just installed Red Hat 7.2 on an old spare computer I have and I'm having problems with shutdown. When I shutdown Linux, I get the usual shutdown dialog but the last line now reads 'Power Down' or something like that. Then I have to manually shut down the computer. I've installed Red Hat a few times on this machine and never had any problem. I did flash the mother board bios right before install so it may be a setting there. I have an AOpen AX6LC motherboard and flashed the 6lc201B bios to it. So I'm not sure if it's a bios issue or a Linux issue. Anyone have any ideas?

What command are you using? If you are using shutdown or halt, try using poweroff. I had the same problem, but it's solved by this command.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip Cristian. Problem is that I'm shutting down right from KDE. I'm sure that I just have to change a setting in a conf file but no idea which one! Any ideas?
