The building is goung to turn off the power to our suite for 12 hours is there a way to shut down the bcm 400 correctly?

You can do a controlled shutdown. Otherwise, just turn it off at the mains.

However, remember to leave it as being one of the last systems to power up again!.

It depends on what version of BCM 400 you have?. The version 4 systems require access via the Element Manager program. Once in there, you need to go to the "Administration" tab and then select "Utilities". From there you just navigate to where is lets do the controlled shutdown.

On the older BCM 3.X systems, you have to browse to the LAN1 /LAN2 IP address and go into the Mntce section and follow the links in there.

I suggest a controlled shutdown to be on the safe side. We had a site being reno'd and contractors were repeatedly pulling the plug on BCM. After one shutdown the system got hung and voicemail stopped working. Another visit was made to replace the HD and 6mths later we had to replace the HD again.
