I'm looking for a way to 'post', for lack of a better work now, information from one table to another. I'm using ALpha/5 now, I have a masterfile that holds check information. I print a report (lists all the checks that cleared the previous day) to an ASCII file, import that file to a temporary database, then the records are matched by the check number. When the master finds a match in the temp file, it fills a field with a 'Y'. I'm new to Access and haven't been able to find any function that does the same.

It seems to me that all you need is an update query that joins the master table with the temporary table. But I'm not very clear on which part of this is in Alpha 5 and which in Access, nor do I know whether one can use tables in the other. Rick Sprague
