I have an old Linksys wireless router Model BEFW11S4.
Somethign is wrong with it as it just resets itself every 10 minutes. I have already tried everything like getting firware upgardes.

Nothign worked and now i have already bought the replacement too. I want to know if i can still use it for any purpose or make some other project out of it just for learnign purposes.

Does anyone know if we can convert a linksys router into a repeater.
Any ideas for interesting projects welcome or else.. ill just have to smash this router to bits using a hammer so i can atleast feel better :p

There are not any projects for the BEFW11S4 that I know of. There are for the WRT54G/GS series. Look to Openwrt.org, linksysinfo.org and Sveasoft.com.

In the future everything will work...

I heard somewhere that it was possible to flash linksys gear with netgear firmware. You might see if it possible with your model and if not go to the 30th floor and let it fly.......

Thanx for the info, but there is no third part firmware for the model that i have. (BEFW11S4.) There are however a lot of firmwars for the WRTG54

Anyways, I got my hammer and broke open the router and I was amazed to find that there was a wireless PCMCIA card in there :)

I tried putting the card in my laptop and windows xp detects it as "instant_wireless_network_PC_Card"

Now where can i find the drivers for this card. I have already tried google !

At last you found something to do with it......remember that the source of the router problems could have been that component. If you have problems with it see how many hops ip will skip across water before it sinks.........
