hey guys and gals, i am running win 2k pro and i have 2 cd-rom drives, #one (generic 44x on primary slave) and #two (plextor plexwriter 16x10x40 on secondary slave).

now, both drives work and the plextor burns cds, but when i boot my pc i get the following error:

"Application error CTSvcCDA.exe
the instruction at '0x77f91b79' referenced memory at '0x0000000'. The memory could not be 'read'."

so i click ok to terminate, because i do not want to debug and the pc functions mostly as normal...i dont know if that means i need to switch some drivers or what...any help would be great.

Thanks

I do know that the following executables are included in the Dell Dimension's default load : AHQTB.EXE, CREATECD.EXE, CTSVCCDA.EXE, DEVLDR32.EXE, DIRECTCD.EXE and MSIEXEC.EXE

As for the purpose of CTSVCCDA.exe....

Because the error occurs and you are still able to burn. I figure that the program is not needed for the operation of the Dell. You can either reinstall that .exe or wipe it from startup and registry. To find out what it does, you may have to contact Dell directly.

Good Luck. -md

thanks, but i dont have a Dell, its a self built Computer "Less work more network" (HP) -- its so catchy

It seems to me that Plexwriter suggests that their CD-Writer be placed as #1, then the second CD player placed as #2. Try switching - maybe this will help??

ok thanks, i will check it out, but...i think i may just have to set the jumpers on my old CD rom, i forget what i had those set at. "Less work more network" (HP) -- its so catchy
