An analog line off of a Norstar is bridged with another 1000 feet of cable that goes nowhere. Although there is no resistive load, I'm assuming that the capacitance of the line has increased considerably. Over time would this cause a problem?

Thanks!

Over time, yes!. Any cable that is needlessly connected is a fault liability and personally it's better to have it removed if it's no longer required.

it's such a pain tracing cables on faults only to find that that it wasn't used and that the cable had been damaged etc.
