Possibility to detect if a PC is online

Is there a possibility to trace if a PC is ONLINE.
I mean I want to detect if a PC with a given IP adress is online or not or if the IP adress is invalid. (Like the ping command does).

You could use the command prompt to try and ping the IP address:

Try
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("ping [some ip address]&quot
Catch
msgbox("the computer is not online&quot
End Try

It may work...
