When I design a form the edges of each control are positioned in increments of 6 pixels. I would like that to be more precise. I have gone into Tools|Options|Forms to adjust the horizontal spacing from 12 to 3 but that has no effect on my current form.

How do I change that for the current form? Is that a property of the form? Andrew M.

Andrew,

These settings apply to new forms only. For existing forms, they are saved in the Foxuser file.

If you want to apply the setting for existing form, try opening Foxuser, and locate and delete the records in question.

Thanks Mike

There were so many foxuser.dbf files that I eventually deleted the whole lot (to the recycle bin) and the controls now size in increments of 3 pixels.

Must admit that I do not understand why that worked. Those foxuser files that I examined did not appear to have any statement like "Vertical increment = 6" or somesuch, in their memo fields so I do not know where the information was recorded. But thanks - I'll make a note of that.

Andrew,

This is I believe related to having the Snap to Grid box ticked. I find it much easier having this box UNticked and I can then move/resize controls exactly how I want.

Thank you, Mike and stewart. I can now position controls precisely.

I do have a problem with foxuser.dbf but I'll raise a separate thread in general coding.

I prefer to have snap to grid on and a grid width of 12 Pixels, which is about half a typical text line height.

To resize and position controls with pixel accuracy simply use arrow keys or [Shift] plus arrow keys.

Makes it much easier for me than to use the layout toolbar.

Bye, Olaf.
