I just started working at a place that has the old Micros 2700. It has been programmed but I need to change a few things like adding a menu item for say hotdogs. It has a menu that just says snacks now. I need to track exactly how many hot dogs and a few other items are sold in say a month. I have the programming manual but it is all greek to me. I would really appreciate any tips someone here could help with. I would also like to add menu items that has the price already in it so the worker could just hit the item and the price show up. I hope this is possible. I work with computers but never been around one if these POS systems. Thanks, Tom

Tom, all the things you mention are possible BUT there are many details re: how your POS system was initially setup. Do you have keyboard or touchscreen? Software version? Do you need to program presets or add SLU's? Not complex but a challenge to a novice. Your best move is to call the local Micros dealer in your area and pay for 2 hrs of training. Buy the trainer lunch. With a few cheat sheets and a few programming tips you'll be on your way.

The reporting ?... Sign on a Mgr, While holding down the "Shift" button press "Enter". Choose 1 for Reports, Choose 1 for Single Report. A list will appear with all the possible reports, you might be after #18 (MENU ITEM SALES), index 18 and answer the next few ?'s and you will get the info you seek. One tip, don't print a Menu Item Sales report to screen, it'll take forever. The 2700 is a good POS terminal, it's just not very fast.

There are websites that offer programming tips and cheat sheets as well for the 2700. Google Micros 2700 trouble shooting and you'll get a few sites.

Get your Boss to invest in a little training or at least describe the steps you were shown when asked to add menu items, that may help this forum help you.

Thanks for your answer. I believe I have the 5.03 version. I have written down at work but I think that is it. Like I said I am completely new to one of these systems. I do not know what you mean on this> Do you need to program presets or add SLU's. What are SLU'S? I will check tomorrow on the exact version we have and post back. I will also find out exactly what we want this thing to do and also report back. I also do not know how to locate the closest Micro dealer. Any tips on how to find that. I live in central Alabama, about 40 miles from Auburn, Al. Thanks again. Tom

The system is a touchscreen. All I know is that when I talked to someone about a manual he had me find what version I had. It was the 5.03 every what that means. I want to delete a few menu items and add new ones. Thanks/ Tom

On the Micros 2700 everything centers around SLU (screen look up) #'s. Make a list 1-32 (the 2700 only has 32 SLU's),
then document all known SLU #'s by paging around in the menu item file. To get to the menu item file; sign on a Mgr, while holding down Shift and press Enter. Then index 2-1-2-2-3-1, press Enter. Move your cursor LEFT and you'll see the SLU column. Start paging down, as you notice SLU #'s write them down on your sheet 1 thru 32. IE: #1 is Apps, #2 is Salads etc.

If you want to add a sandwich, You need 3 things, Name, price and SLU, likewise for other items and/or SLU's.
To remove blanks that may be appearing; that's caused by putting a valid SLU # on an item that has no descriptor in the name field.

Hope this helps

Thanks, sorry for the late responce but my internet has been down for a while. I will try your tips and let you know. Thanks again. Tom

I have found lots of helpful information on the net;
Google "Micros 2700 troubleshooting" and you'll find sites that offer very beneficial info and cost saving ideas re: Micros 2700 terminals.

Hi
I was very impressed with a system called Accupos
Not only is it cheaper than its competitors but it is the easiest system I have ever used.
The interface allows you to change the screen and add items in a couple of steps. Any item in your accounting software can be reflected on the screen immediately.
Just the same, your daily transactions reflect in your accounting software keeping your books updated at all times

Check it out They also have online demos for retail POS, restaurant POS, and inventory POS
Let me know how you like it

I am back. We have had no problems using this old machine but now I have to figure out how to change prices on some items. Any help on this ?? I would pay someone to do this if I knew who to call. My time is limited because of other duties so paying a person would be better. Thanks.

1st, Print out a price list. You can print all or a range of items. Sign on a Mgr, Press the Mgr Functions button,
Index 2 (procedures), then index 10 (price list). Once you have a printed list, select procedure #8 (change menu items)
index the menu item # (from the list) and change the price.
Page up or Down to advance to other menu items or just "save changes". When you "save changes" the new prices will automatically update other terminals on the network.

This is very simple to do on your own. Can of corn!

Note: if you have dot matrix printers, be sure you have a full roll of paper and a fresh ribbon.

Thank you TobeThor. That was simple. I appreciate you helping me on this. I know this system is old but it still works. Thanks again. Tom
