I have Exchange 5.5 with only internet mail in addition to exchange, ie. no notes, ccmail, etc. Which ports do I need to have open on my router/firewall? Do I just need port 25 (SMTP) and port 110 (pop3)? Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

25 inbound, IF you have an MX record. That is all.
Outgoing, that depends on what other services you want to provide to the LAn users. 110 is one of the for email.

110 (POP3) would only be needed if you have any POP3 users ie people who connect over the internet with Outlook Express type client.

Other than that only 25 in and out will do it.

This is all assuming you are not talking about a firewall between your regular (internal) Outlook users and the Exchange server, just a firewall between the Exchange and the Internet.

As long as your Exchange server is using internal DNS servers that is.

Otherwise I think it is TCP and UDP 53 and 1023 for that.

Thank you all very much. Yes the firewall is between the internet and the exchange server. Not between the server and the users. Thanks again everyone.
