I will soon be porting my DID blocks from Verizon and a Verizon PRI to another PRI supplier. Before the porting can take place I'll need to test. When the new carrier drops off the new PRI and I get configured, they said they would give me a couple of their own numbers to test with. My question is how would I go about testing those test DIDs on my switch? Do I need to setup a test CDB for this or is there a simpler method? Can I just monitor the PRI DCH to see the incoming digits? Is that enough to confirm this will work? Option 61C Version 2921 Release 3.0

Thank you

I would say the best bet would be if you have a spare PRI card to build the new pri and make sure it is up before the port. Usually the PRI is onsite and turned up before the port date and if they will provide you with test numbers that is great too. (I have had a hard time getting test numbers in the past) If you do it this way you can just shut the other circuit down and have the other online while they do the port. Another idea is if the provisioning is the same on both circuits you could unplug one and plug the other in to do a test run and switch back until the port date. You can monitor incoming digits but also make an outbound call and also test 911. Some telco switches need to see different outbound settings. Just make sure you match settings on the incoming digits your new telco sends. Is this your first port? I have more advice if you need it I just don't know your experience level :)

Like bfuller83 suggest - build a new PRI based on the parameters from the new vendor. Now you can test the PRI with the test DID the new vendor is providing. To test with the test DID, just build a phone with those numbers and call it, do the same for outbound calls - create a test rli and pick a local and a long distant NPA/TF point it to your test RLI and test outbound. Once the port is over, you can disconnect the previous one. Sound complicated, but it's really easy and fast to do.
