Hi all,

How to release the port that was assigned to an extension wit Ip phone (4625 SW IP). Server/phone system is 8700/Avaya Definity. For digital phone (2420) #771234 <ext> works great - drops the port to 'X'. Is there any similar command in IP phone as well?

Thanks in advace

It looks like you're referencing a TTI/PSA code.

For IP phones, just press the menu key and scroll down to 'logout'...

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. But logout does not release the port. Iam looking for a way to free up the port. That way if a user leaves the organization, it is easy to manage (i feel ;-)) the available extesnsions/capacity, if we can able to release the port (ex:S02134).Logout the extension still shows the port as used.

TIA

I believe as long as the phone is designated as an IP phone, it will have a port assigned to it. One thing you could do is change the phone type to 2500 or 6408 and just X port the station (as you say you already do with those models). When a new person is hired, just change it back to IP.

i don't know about your system, but i can't change an ip phone to another type of phone. you have to remove the station and then add it back as another model set.

I think it depends on what version of CM you are running. If it doesn't let you change the station type via the 'change station x' command, then try logging the extension off the phone and then issue the change.

Thank you all for your valuable input.

1. Anyway to remotely logoff the ip phone user? I can do that by logging with the same extension and that kicks the remote phone out. But with out that ..any command to logoff the user remotely?

2. How to disable to Dataport on the 4625SW IP for selected ext? Ex: If any outside company personal comes, sometimes we need to give them a phone. I want to avoid him to connect their laptop to data port on the phone to gain n/w access.

Thanks again.

here's how to turn off that PC ethernet port.

press 'Hold'468#
press # to keep the phone's LAN interface as it is and to continue to the PC ethernet port.
press * to change the PC ethernet interface.
now keep pressing * until you see PHY2=disabled.
press # to confirm that's the setting you want.
press # to keep the IR port setting the same.
press # to save new values.
phone will restart with new setting for PC ethernet port (or any other setting you changed).
