have a client who has a netgeardm602 adsl modem. the pc is attached to a usb cable and the lan card is attached to another pc.i.e
lan ip address 192.168.2.1 no gateway
usb ip address 192.168.1.2 gateway 192.168.1.1

netgear dm602 settings
usb ip address 192.168.1.1

wan port has static ipaddress.
have done a port forwarding to two applications i.e
pc anywhere using tcp ports 5631 & 5632
radmin s/w using ports 4899
both port forward to 192.168.2.1

i have enabled a static route on the router
destination 192.168.2.0 next hop 192.168.1.2

firewall status
blocked IP Multicast, Appletalk, IPX, BPDU, IPV6 Multicast and 8021.q
opened PPPoE, , RARP, NetBEUI, ARP

we cannot connect to the user's pc. they do have a static ip address.

nmorker,

I noticed in your discription that you were using these IP addreses:

lan ip address 192.168.2.1 no gateway
usb ip address 192.168.1.2 gateway 192.168.1.1

From this it seems that your attempting to use the user's PC as a router? If the computer (user) is running Windows XP, yoour not goign to find this thing working.

Why don't you just use network cards on all of the computers and connect them to the netgear router (use DHCP if you want) and you won't need packet forwarding or routing.

Hope this helps,
Kevin

hi kevin,
i have kept the above setting same but have noticed that the port forwarding works on the netgear dg632 and does not work on the netgear dm602. i will have to foolow it up with netgear.

i cannot use the router as a switch as it does not support. maybe in the future place a swich and the usb adapter will go away .
